The Olaplex professional system is used to lessen damage during chemical processes and repair any broken bonds in the hair. The first step, Olaplex Bond Multiplier No. 1, should be used as an additive during chemical processes. It contains the highest concentration of the patented ingredient Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. It can also be mixed with water and applied to the hair as the first step in the Stand-Alone Treatment for more intense repair.

The second step, Olaplex Bond Perfector No. 2, should be applied after chemical processes to repair any remaining bonds that were not relinked during the first step of the service. It can also be used by itself as a Mini Treatment to provide additional reparative benefits during other salon services. Specific ratios for each service can be found in the included mixing chart.

Olaplex can be used with all chemical services, including color, lightener, direct dyes, toners, and glosses. It can also be used in texture services, such as perms, relaxers, thermal straightening, and Japanese thermal reconstruction. The only service where Olaplex should not be added directly into the chemical formula is Keratin Treatments. Due to these services acting as a laminate, the hair is treated immediately prior to the Keratin treatment.
